Witchfinder General is a name most fans of doom metal probably know, but not one that has been heard from in sometime. In fact the last studio release was about 25 years ago and the singer died soon after. With these things in mind "Why now?" seems a legitimate question and after listening to Resurrected it seems to be the only thought I am left with.

This simply put is not the cult band that released albums like Death Penalty and all the personality and balls this band had are completely gone. Whatever spell they used to resurrect this beast only half worked and we're left with zombies churning out the most typical and bland sort of stoner rock imaginable. I'm just going to be blunt here and state for the record that the singer also can simply not sing. Never do the vocals wail above upbeat guitar like they used to and the vocals never really change either. Really this is absolutely forgettable stuff and would be embarrassing for a band who Didn't have a legacy and a name established in the scene.

I get the whole trying to relive the past thing and some bands feeling nostalgic about their "metal days" once upon a time, but sometimes it's better to leave the past buried. I just can't really find anything redeeming on this one.
