Consisting of a good half of what Angra once was this marks Shaaman's sophmore release. While the new Angra got the two guitarists it would seem that all the songwriting ability departed with the bulk of it's members. After the departure of 3 of Angra's members they recruited a new lineup and had their 'rebirth' but I'd say it had a few birth defects.

On the other hand, I'm quite impressed with the progress of Shaaman. This is definetely a bit different than old Angra but it simply has what new Angra lacks. Good songs. Shaaman's style isn't as technically showy as their former band, but there's just some great melodic and powerful material here. Somewhat paced and subtle but yet very creative in the arrangements and coming across as a heavier Mob Rules in many ways. Piano works it's way in here and there into the flowing yet heavy songs and it just comes together as a very tight package. Simply put... though Angra posesses the name, Shaaman posesses the future.

Highlights: Turn Away, More, Scarred Forever

Rating - 3.5/5
