Let's just get this out of the way... I hate Hansi Kursch's voice. Loathe it. Why then am I reviewing this? Because as a fan of many of Iced Earth's albums I still felt the need to check into it.

Any fan of Iced Earth has to come to terms with the fact that Jon Schaffer is not the most revolutionary and inventive riffmaster in the world. That's just a given and this release is no change. The problem here is the songs simply aren't interesting. Many of the tracks here just have very slow and plodding riffs that repeat over and over again with absolutely no energy. The only fast moments come in the form of riffs you've heard from Iced Earth on 2 tracks. Also, 3 of the songs have the same exact slow acoustic to later pickup formula. Then just when you think this album could not possibly be more lame they cover Immigrant Song. Certain songs should just not be covered by anyone. This is one of them. Trying to approach a classic such as this is just unwise. In short, this album is just slightly less embarassing than being touched by the king of pop.
