The first word that springs to mind upon listening to this band is simply 'Original'. Trying to define this band in terms of a genre is pretty well impossible. I think it's for that reasont that the debut was thrown into the realm of progressive. It certainly is different.

The Empires Of The Worlds picks up where the debut left off, but even heavier than the last release. To imagine Biomechanical's music try to picture Pantera heavyness and vocals but with a high end that ranges into the realms of Halford. Then add a shitload of time changes and weird backing synths. Not since Nevermore do I think I've heard a brand of music that is as utterly recognizable as a band's own. Heavy, technical, and sometimes straight out thrashing this is just an awesome ride. There's a ton of cross-genre appeal here and if you like heavy music that's constantly shifting and never loses interest... then this is for you.

Highlights: Existenz, Enemy Within, The Empire Of Worlds, Regenerated

Rating - 4.0/5
