Another debut album and another female fronted symphonic band. This really is one of the 'in' styles to do right now, but I quite enjoy it when it's done well. When I see these debuts coming around I generally check out a couple songs and decide if the sound is worth pursuing further and the songs on this one caught my attention enough to merit a deeper look.

What we have on this one is a rather sweet sounding female singer who sparks reminders of Liv Kristine for me and some harsher vocals roll in from time to time to back them up. In terms of the guitar, the riffs aren't really complex or anything, but have a good sharp/heavy sound and are catchy enough in terms of the songs. Many of the songs here do break into some pretty headbangable rhythms before switching back to more atmospheric moments. As one would expect, this is also backed by some orchestration. Like Leaves Eyes, a lot of the charm of this band comes in the form of the soft female vocals and the strong melodies she creates. As a whole this band is pretty comparable to that band, though I think I like this better than some of their material, largely due to the riffs.

Voices Of Destiny put together a pretty good sounding debut here. Most of the highlights/catchiest songs come early, but it's an enjoyable overall listen. If you like this sort of style then the band may well be worth checking out. Fans of Leaves Eyes in particular should give this a listen.

Highlights: Twisting The Knife, Return From The Ashes, Ray Of Hope

Rating - 3.5/5
