Turisas are a band I've enjoyed for a bit, but sometimes with the number of bands out there some get lost. It's hard to pay attention to every band in the scene sometimes. Some would say there's a few good and a lot of crap, but honestly I'm of kind of the opposite opinion. Sure there are duds in any scene, but sometimes I find it hard to actually keep up with all the bands I think are worth it.

Well, after listening to this new one, Stand Up And Fight, I may need to move Turisas up in my priorities a bit. This is just a damn fun album. The epic choruses and the sing songy nature of some of these choruses just gives the band a great energy. Very catchy and very memorable songs push this one over the top for me. I can also picture Turisas doing these songs live as being a great deal of fun where the crowd just wants to join in.

Musically this is a pretty solid blend of some more aggressive vocals and fairly heavy music coupled with more flowing and power metal-ish music. At times this even moves towards the more flowing and atmospheric to establish the epic tones of the material. Pretty good blend I must say and the songs utilize the various tones in a way that completely works. I do think this album hits you with it's best songs early, but all of the album is worth the price of admission.

In conclusion, I think this is a good crossover band and album for those who enjoy harder/harsher metal and epic power metal. Probably strays a little more towards the later on this release, but I still see this as a band with solid crossover potential and maybe more widespread appeal than the typical power metal band. Well worth checking out if you like catchy, epic metal.
