On hearing of a Ralf Scheeper's solo album my initial reaction was excitement. I've always liked his voice and the thought of him doing something new got my attention. The thing with solo albums is they often hinge on bringing something new to the table though. If you're just going to operate in your comfort zone and not do anything new than there is little point. My hope for this album pretty much hinged on some new twist/new sound to make it interesting.

Unfortunately, this really doesn't take that leap and bring much of anything new to the table. Almost every track here reminds me of something that could have been put out under the name Primal Fear. To add to that, most of the tracks are also fairly average PF tunes. There is one track here that reminds me more of his Gamma Ray days and strangely it isn't the one which features Kai Hansen on guitar. The Pain Of The Accused has Kai but it sounds like more of an OK semi-ballad. Saints Of Rock is the one that reminds me of early Scheepers Gamma Ray a bit in that it sounds a bit more quirky and rockish. That being said, it's also not that memorable and not really up to the standards of early Gamma Ray.

I was just about ready to just kinda pass this one as OK, but really not memorable and then I heard the last track, Compassion. If ever a song should have been left off the final cut of a disc, it is this one. This is bad... like epic bad. One of the cheesiest, worst, gag inducing ballads ever. Seriously, don't even listen to this song... not even for laughs. Turn it this album off after track 11 and pretend it doesn't exist.

In conclusion, this just really isn't worth it. There's nothing here exciting. Some ok songs at most and really not wort making a solo album out of. I wouldn't recommend this to anything but the most hardcore Ralf Scheepers fan.
