Rhapsody (Of Fire) have long been a band I have enjoyed. Yes they're cheesy, yes they're over the top... and yes it's a lot of fun. If you enjoy this style they just do it really well. There's a lot of energy from this band and the neoclassical shredding is both impressive and headbangable when they get going. Unfortunately, the last album was a little slow on the speed and shredding for my liking. I went into this one hoping for more.

Thankfully more is indeed what I get here. Over the past couple of albums Rhapsody have further refined their style, leaning away from keyboard symphonics and to some extent speed and shredding. This is not necessarily a bad thing as the huge symphonic sound of Symphony Of Enchanted Lands II was refreshing and gave the band a new lease on life with less repetition. However this album again gives the sound a kick in the ass and some new life by bringing some of the shredding power back to this band while keeping more of a refined symphonic touch. Really this is a best of both worlds scenario as this is patent old school Rhapsody, but also more powerful and involving. Not to mention this album just plain got my head moving with some blazing riffs.

Rhapsody just did an all around nice job here. Heavy and epic and just what I wanted. What more is there to say? If you like Rhapsody and epic power metal than you should definitely get this.

Highlights: Sea Of Fate, Raging Starfire, Crystal Moonlight, The Frozen Tears Of Angels
