I have to say that it's nice to see another Paradox album so soon. After the band reemerged with Collision Course it took a good 8 years for the follow up, Electrify to come along. Riot Squad follows quickly on the heels of the last one though so hopefully this means the band intends to be more full time. Electrify was a beast of a thrash metal album so I had high hopes for this one.

Well, anyone who liked the last one can pretty much relax. This is at least as good as Electrify and probably more intense. Where as the last album varied between balls out thrashing and more mid-paced numbers this one seems to lean more on the former. This is fine by me as my favorites off Electrify tended to be the speedier and more intense numbers like Monument, Second Over Third By Force, and Hyperspeed Hallucinations. Paradox really knows how to make a ripping, fast song and there's plenty to go around on this album. Really this album stays in high gear for pretty much the duration and this is just one to headbang to. I've gotta say that I love the hell out of this band's sound. This thrash with a touch of power sound is pretty near perfect in it's balance of melody and aggression. Between the soaring vocals and the riff assault this is one damn good metal album.

In conclusion, if you like thrash metal with a hint of traditional/power to the sound than this is an album for you. Between Paradox and Artillery there have been some really good albums in this sort of mold in 2009. Keep it up guys. Looking forward to catching this band at ProgPower XI.
