It's been such a long wait for a new Paradox album that this could practically be called another reunion album. It's been 8 long years since Paradox put out the excellent comeback album Collision Course and this one has to be one of my most anticipated release of the year. I've always loved this band's fusion of melodic and powerful singing with some damn thrashing music.

On this one the band comes through in fine form from the onset as Second Over Third By Force rips out of the gate full speed ahead and then after a bit of an interlude melts off my face with the track Monument. I know it's January but this will be my one of my favorite tracks of the year barring some Incredible output in 2008. Every instrument in a word is THRASH as it sounds like everyone in the band is pounding away furiously with such energy as the vocal lines soar over the destruction into a great chorus. Truly a powerful, heavy, and energetic thrash song the likes of which I seldom hear these days. These sorts of tracks are when the album is at it's best and other thrash metal rippers include Hyperspeed Hallucinations and Electrify most notably.

The rest of the album opts for more mid-paced thrash and one ballad (Cyberspace Romance) which are actually pretty good in and of themselves, but don't have the barrage of riffs and energy that the faster tracks of the album feature and don't stand out as much to me. The best of these would probably be the pick for single, Infected, which does have some catchy riffs to it.

In the end this album seems like it could have been a Little more than it was if it had more of the incredible intensity of tracks like Monument, but I can't really complain as Paradox is putting out some pretty top caliber thrash metal here. This is certainly among the top of the heap of modern thrash metal releases and I'd recommend it to anyone who likes thrash with some Good singing and a slight bit of power metalish polish.

Highlight: Monument, Hyperspeed Hallucinations, Electrify, Infected

Rating - 4.0/5
