With a name like Metalium you've gotta know that this is an incredibly original band with a lot of brainpower poured into it. Metalium... it's Metal but with an -ium. GET IT?!?! Keep that name in mind because the music is about as original and creative as the name.

Metalium are power metal from Germany and that's pretty much what they sound like. The heavy power metal riffage is familiar and the vocals are in the prototypical clean voice with a wail here and there. Not a complete soundalike but in that basic Kiske inspired vein. Metalium are a fine example of a band who came up with a pretty decent sound but lack any real songwriting creativity. The appropriately titled song Mindless got a chuckle from me and that's about all I got from the album aside from boredom and maybe a touch of nausea from the horribly sappy ballad, Was Home. Worth noting, and not in a good way, is the early contender for worst song of 2007, Metal Blindness, which manages to take a boring power metal song and slow it down to the pace of doom metal. Utterly fucking painful to listen to. The best this album really manages to pull off in terms of songs is Dare which might be passable as an ok Grave Digger song musically.

This band is now 6 albums in and there has been zero musical growth. Nothing To Undo could easily be mistaken for any other one of their albums. Really the only thing that separates the first couple albums is they had some pretty decent guitar courtesy of two strong talents (Chris Caffery and Jack Frost), but now they lack even that. Basically, this band is now a collection of nobodies going nowhere fast without the ability to even namedrop a connection to talented musicians. Utterly missable generic power metal.

Highlights: Dare, Straight Into Hell

Rating - 2.0/5
