The amount of drama surrounding this band of late has been incredible, but finally they've managed to pull together with a new lineup and release this, their fourth album. A lot of the name value is gone with Gus G and Snowy Shaw exiting and I had a fair amount of skepticism heading in with such a personnel shift. So is this the Dream Evil we all know and love?

The simple answer... yes, yes it is. All I can say is that perhaps the amount of Dream Evil that was Gus G and Snowy Shaw was... overstated. Either that or the rest of the band has a great handle on what Dream Evil is and should be because the songwriting has not changed in style or quality. Actually I think this album is them at their very best as all the songs clock in between that 3 and 5 minute mark and rip with metal anthemic energy. Short, catchy, and single worthy with a larger than life sound is the style and it suits them well. Basically all the tracks follow the same sort of formula but they're all catchy as hell and it never really gets old for me. There are only two songs which are really strikingly different and both come off well. Love Is Blind is an extremely well done ballad which shows off some good vocal work by Niklas Isfeldt and My Number One is a totally different sounding track which sounds like Dream Evil meets Rammstein. Driven by an industrial metal beat this one works surprisingly well and is both heavy and catchy with a huge sounding chorus.

To sum it up, this is Dream Evil as it should be and despite all the uncertainly of the band's future they have proven themselves to still be a force in power metal. Recommended to any fans of the band and of power metal anthems.
