This one marks Cornerstone's 4th release, but this is my first experience with the band. Never heard of them until this one although the band's lineup does feature some interesting people. Included in the band's ranks are Doogie White of Rainbow, Malmsteen, etc and two ex-members Royal Hunt.

The most obvious influence in the music of Cornerstone has to be Rainbow. Doogie White often sounds Dio-esque in his deliveries and the music is more based on a heavy rock formula than a metal one. Still, things sound heavy enough where I'd be comfortable calling this a metal album in the same way I'd call a Jorn album metal. Think bluesy rock with a heavy guitar sound aimed at catchiness and that about sums up this release. The formula works well enough, but it's certainly not anything I haven't heard before. Kind of catchy songs but all in all the tracks start to get samey by the time you reach the end. Not a bad release at all and I enjoyed listening for what it was, but there's not a lot to set this band apart from others who have done the same sort of tunes.

In conclusion, if you like this sort of soulful melodic rock/metal with catchy choruses than this is a pretty decent listen. Recommended to fans of bands like Rainbow, Jorn, Feinstein, or Dimeo-era Riot. Just don't expect anything revolutionary and this is enjoyable enough.

Highlights: Mother Of Mercy, Two Tales Of One Tomorrow

Rating - 3.0/5
