Stream Of Passion have been a decent, if not necessarily spectacular, addition to the super saturated sub-genre of female fronted atmospheric metal. Their first album was interestingly minimalistic with a strong violin presence and their second was more typical, but also more upbeat and catchy. All in all, this band has yet to put out a truly great album, but good enough ones to warrant continued listens from me.

On Darker Days, they seem to be in just that. Missing is a heavy violin presence or the energy of the second album. It seems like this has both the drawbacks of being somewhat typical and the slow and minimal qualities of the first album without the bonuses of either really. This basically plods on at a slow pace and never really picks up and despite the singer having a good voice, I don't get much in terms of memorable vocal melodies. Darker Days is pretty much slow and moody to a fault.

There just really aren't much in terms of highlights here and this just never establishes itself as anything more than a decently competent band. In this genre in particular, this just isn't good enough to distinguish Stream Of Passion from the pack.
