Rob Rock is one of those vocalists one has to wonder why they haven't gotten further in the metal world. Certainly, he is respected in circles in the know, but with his voice and working with Roy Z along with artists like Bruce Dickinson and Rob Halford you would think the name would be a little more widely recognized. For those of us who do know Rob Rock though, this is his fourth release with his solo band and of course is also notable for his appearances in such bands as Impellitteri, Warrior, and Axel Rudi Pell.

On Garden Of Chaos Rob Rock pretty much sticks to the formula that has been working for him with his solo works. What we have here is heavy power metal with a familiar Roy Z production sound and lots of nice vocal hooks and big choruses. I'd have to say that if you like Rob Rock's other albums or Bruce Dickinson's last few solo albums than you would probably do well to check this out as well. Good straight up metal with a nice energetic sound is the end result here and Rob Rock's soaring voice is always worth the price of admission. No big surprises on this album but I'm really ok with that as the sound Rob Rock has is working for him just fine. Certainly for fans of his long run in Impellitteri this is a little more simple and a lot less shredding speed, but for the traditional metal fan this is a solid album in my opinion.

In conclusion if you're a Rob Rock fan or like polished traditional metal than this should be up your alley. Rob Rock is an extremely capable singer and in good company with this sort of sound. Overall this is just a good straight forward metal experience.
