Pink Cream 69 are veterans in the scene, but honestly not a band that I've paid much attention to. For some reason I just never really gave them the time of day... perhaps the name has something to do with it.

Well what we have here is a sound that's fairly familiar... especially to Frontiers. Basically, it's power metal fused with hard rock elements and a slick production and tendency toward writing catchy anthems that brings to mind 80s glam at times. Seems to be a common formula, but if you're looking for a straight out catchy rocker than you could certainly do worse than this album. The songs are constructed simply but well, the musicianship is solid, and the vocals are a pretty talented in that familiar coverdale-esque vein. Throughout listening to this I was reminded of fellow slick power metal rockers like Masterplan and At Vance.

If you like this sort of style than this stacks up pretty well with similar albums. Nothing that will turn a lot of heads or go down as a classic, but pretty good simple, catchy metal. To Pink Cream 69's credit they have been doing this sort of sound for longer than most so I wouldn't count them among the many clones of the style. I'm not sure I'd call any of the songs on here brainfood at any rate, but they don't necessarily need to be.

Highlights: No Way Out, Children Of The Dawn

Rating - 3.0/5
