Every once in awhile you'll get a compilation of various metal artists doing Christmas songs and it's amusing enough. Hell, I even like some of the renditions and it gives me something to play around Christmas time. Few metal artists however would make a full album of this though, with the exception of Twisted Sister coming to mind. Needless to say, this is not exactly the album that some people have been waiting 7 years for.

Well, what else is there to say but this is about as goofy sounding as you might expect. The opening track Get Into The Spirit made me laugh out loud as I heard Halford awkwardly screeching about Christmas. This sounds like a typical Halford song with christmas lyrics bluntly forced into it. The best part about that song is that it can only go up from there. We Three Kings and Oh Come O Come Emanuel are actually a pretty good fusion of christmas music and metal with a nice upbeat pace while still keeping a holiday feel about them. Still a little gimmicky for me and probably only something I would play around the holidays, but I'll take what I can get from this album. A lot of the traditional Christmas songs are not nearly as well done or as metal. Tracks like What Child Is This, Come All Ye Faithful, and Oh Holy Night delivered in more traditional fashion just sound awkward as Rob Halford's voice is by no means suited to this sort of material. Also, if you ever wanted to hear Halford do a mellow pop song than Winter Song is the track for you.

Yeah this is pretty bad. I count two redeemable songs that could've found a decent home on a christmas metal compilation. Sorry Halford, but Twisted Sister did it better. Please stop trying to experiment... it never ends well.
